Leather goods that trick the eye

Creating the illusion of a straw bale made into a bag, the Paï model in natural raffia exhibits creativity and artisanal prowess. This pioneering model was born out of a creative dream for a brand whose collections are inspired by nature. Here the interpretation is literal, with this model featuring 100% natural certified organic raffia stalks bound by two cognac leather straps and held in place by a double shoulder strap.

Leather-working and luggage-making techniques give shape to this dreamlike creation. Beneath the raffia is the work of a collaborative world of artisans. Each case is sculpted by a Spanish cabinetmaker from local, FSC-certified pine. Artisans in Ubrique, Andalusia, then cover the interior and exterior of the piece using smooth full grain calf leather, before it is concealed beneath palm fiber.

The certified-organic raffia is sourced from Madagascar and selected for its quality, noticeable in the perfectly uniform shade of its strands.

With its shoulder strap, “Paï” can be worn short or long, on the shoulder or as a crossbody. Its interior features a patch pocket and a magnetic closure. From the French word “paille” (meaning straw), the bag’s name is a nod to the plant product that inspired it.
